All 16- and 17-year-olds in England to be offered Covid jab

Young people to be vaccinated by 23 August to give time to build up immunity before start of school year

All 16- and 17-year-olds in England are to be offered a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine by Monday 23 August, the Department of Health announced on Sunday.

The health secretary, Sajid Javid, said the date would give teenagers two weeks to build up immunity before school starts again in September.
