Killing Kittens, London-based sextech startup run by Kate Middleton’s school friend gets a £3M funding boost

The UK company that hosts the most exclusive, decadent, and hedonistic parties have recently secured £3 million in Series A funding round.

Killing Kittens is a London startup founded by Emma Sayle, a friend of the Duchess of Cambridge when they were pupils at Downe House School in Berkshire.

Killing Kittens will use the funding to penetrate more markets, especially the US, and expand its unique social network for the adult mainstream sector.

Sayle says, “I am incredibly excited that a UK sextech is poised to take on the often prudish nature of Silicon Valley. When I first set up Killing Kittens in 2005, I wanted to free women to express themselves sexually. Now we can take our ethos and our message and truly open up the conversation around sex to the whole world, across all boundaries, and that makes me incredibly proud.”

What Killing Kittens is all about?

Killing Kittens was founded in 2005 in response to demand from young, independent, and solvent single girls and couples who needed something more. As a result, the company has created a safe space where a woman can allow their desires and explore their sexuality.

In the process, the UK company brings a healthier perspective to the dating scene by giving women greater control over their sexual experiences.

“The party is fully focused on the pursuit of female pleasure for girls in control who know what they want as well as empowering adventurous couples the world over,” says the company on their official website.

What started as a sex party at an estate in the UK became an international phenomenon in short succession. The company has hosted member-only social events in London, Berlin, Miami, New York City, Los Angeles, and Sydney, among other places.

As per the company’s claims, all the attendees have to wear masks to cover their faces, thus keeping their identity a secret.

“It’s a free space where women feel comfortable and empowered,” Emma explained in an interview. “If they feel like having sex, they can. But only if they want to — it’s never an expectation. Lots of people come and keep their clothes on.”

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the company had to pause the events for a while. However, they have conducted online sex classes and virtual parties to keep their member engaged.

To date, the relatively underground moment has over 140,000 members of all ages and backgrounds including, college students, single professionals, divorcees, and swinging couples.

They’re back

As the UK reopens again, the demand for Killing Kittens’ infamous sex parties has soared high. The company has sold more than 2,000 tickets to events including a ‘fully immersive fantasy experience based around a garden of delights, says a report.

The tickets are completely sold out from July until October. Sayle told LADbible, “Back in April we released tickets for July and August and sold out within six hours, then we doubled more events than we’d normally do in those months because August is usually quiet, and then they sold out, so we’re now sold out through October.

The Killing Kitten now employs around 14 full-time members and has an annual turnover of £1.5million. The company has recently begun to expand into the LGBTQ+ community.

“We want to live in a world where sex and sexuality is embraced, moving on from current stigmas and stereotypes to where the world realises that being sexual is just part of being a human being,” says the company
