Grayce launches Tech+ to bolster pipeline of digital talent

Grayce’s third Development Programme has been designed to help address a growing demand for digital skillsets

Emerging talent management consultancy, Grayce, has today unveiled its new Development Programme, Tech+, to help tackle the UK’s growing digital skills shortage. The Programme – which will offer graduates training and development in areas such as software development, testing, and information security – will help Grayce’s clients build their tech capability, the need for which has been accelerated by many businesses pivoting to online working models through the pandemic.

Tech+ is Grayce’s tech-focussed Development Programme – following its existing Programmes, Change+ and Data+ – and is the culmination of its merger with Doris IT, which was announced last July. It comes at a time of crucial recovery for the UK economy, of which digital skills development will be key. According to a study by McKinsey, the adoption of new technologies was accelerated by several years during the pandemic, as businesses across all sectors and regions responded to the global health crisis and digitised many of their operations.

This rapid acceleration has pushed the need for tech talent even higher, with demand for skilled professionals currently outstripping supply. Research recently published by the Learning & Work Institute revealed that 60% of UK businesses believe their reliance on advanced digital skills will increase over the next five years. Grayce’s Tech+ Programme will provide new opportunities for skilled graduates looking for employment, alongside companies who need to build their tech capabilities in-house to help propel their businesses forward in the digital era.

Tech+ offers Grayce’s Analysts continuous learning and development opportunities through a programme of technical and soft skills training, 90-day goals and mentoring that continues throughout their on-site client projects. Analysts will be supported with a wrap-around service, as they learn vital skills in coding languages, cloud fundamentals and tech architecture to name a few. Each facet of their development ensures that in return, Grayce’s clients get access to the best possible talent within their companies, and every individual trained is another step towards closing the UK’s digital skills gap.

The Programme has received a great deal of interest already – with hundreds of applications from graduates and strong demand for tech professionals from Grayce’s clients in industries such as Insurance, Retail and Legal.

Geoff Smith, CEO of Grayce commented, “We are thrilled to be unveiling the latest in our Development Programmes at such a vital time for the UK job market and economy. We’ve seen first-hand how many companies have been forced to adapt and transform their business models through the pandemic and believe that it’s more important than ever for us to help supply the growing demand for skilled tech talent.’

Sam Vickerman, Practice Director, Grayce concluded, “Tech+ will allow us to continue Doris’ legacy. Doris was set up to help young people start their tech careers, with a particular focus on attracting female talent in to the industry, and together, Grayce has now launched over 1000 careers for people from lots of backgrounds, something that we are hugely passionate about. According to figures from Tech Nation, only 19% of people currently working in the UK tech scene identify as female. We want to actively improve these numbers by encouraging more young women and individuals from diverse backgrounds to sign up to Tech+, equip them with the most in-demand tech skills today and place them in high-skilled tech roles across a variety of industries. We’ll continue with our overarching mission of placing more graduates and increasing gender and ethnic diversity within tech roles. Through this Programme, we are confident that we can help more graduates find work, while narrowing the digital skills gap with the strongest tech talent in the UK.”
