To assist with both UK and global expansion plans, a British-built, automated prescription machine provider has strengthened its senior management team.
MedPoint, a recommended business partner of the National Pharmacy Association (NPA), has recently appointed, Lichfield, Staffordshire based, Gill Collins as managing director.
Gill joins a senior management team who have over 100 years of combined healthcare and technology experience. She brings an additional 15+ years’ experience in UK and European healthcare and pharmacy automation sectors, having previously held positions at MACH4 and Centred Solutions.
MedPoint prescription machines offer users 24/7 access and contactless collection of prescription medication, whilst enabling pharmacists to work more efficiently.
Over 20 machines have been installed across the UK, including recent installations at Cadham Pharmacy, Scotland and Cornwell’s Chemist, Staffordshire.
Gill, who’s fluent in both German and French, will help shape MedPoint’s overall vision and strategic direction. Day-to-day tasks will include overseeing future installations and working closely with healthcare providers globally.
Gill said: “I’m overjoyed to be joining MedPoint at such an exciting time of growth. One of our primary areas of focus is helping community pharmacies and healthcare providers survive and thrive, especially during such challenging times.
“There’s a lot of digital transformation happening in the world of pharmacy and we’re supporting the industry by offering British engineered solutions with end-to-end training and support.
“We’re very excited to be working alongside many healthcare providers across the UK and look forward to extending our overall reach.”
MedPoint machines can be installed into varying spaces including shop fronts, within buildings and open space thanks to the freestanding MedPoint Solo.
The MedPoint Solo, a fully temperature-controlled unit, was designed as a bespoke Covid-19 solution. Installations have helped enable rapid prescription deployment with little or no building works. The machine has been awarded InnovateUK funding to develop the concept further.
Kevin Murphy, Co-Founder and Chief Clinical Officer at MedPoint, added: “We are delighted to further strengthen our senior management team with the appointment of a high calibre executive to lead our rapidly growing team.
“Gill’s UK and international experience across the healthcare sector will help us continue our rapid growth and achieve our aim of becoming a market leader in pharmacy automation, bringing prescription collection into the digital age.”
