LPPA awards Civica major cloud pensions software contract

Civica’s cloud-enabled Universal Pensions Management (UPM) industry-leading software will help improve member and employer experience across the organisation via increased digitalisation and automation to modernise services. It will offer value for money administration software and build an innovative digital platform for future growth.

LPPA is a subsidiary of Local Pensions Partnership, a major pension service provider for public services schemes. LPPA provides pension administration services to 17 local authority and blue light clients with over 600,000 members across more than 1,800 public and charity sector employers.

The implementation of UPM will sit at the heart of the organisation’s business and digital transformation to improve the member and employer experience. The new platform allows members and employers to self-serve 24/7, introducing automation and self-service capabilities that significantly improve the user experience. UPM will consolidate five existing systems into one integrated workflow platform, freeing up administrators to focus more on value-add activities for members.

Joanne Darbyshire, Managing Director, LPPA commented: “Demands placed on pensions schemes continue to grow, with an increasing focus on governance, risk management and efficiency. We’re pleased to be working with Civica as a long-term innovation partner to improve services for all our clients, employers and members.

“Civica’s scale and experience means we can work together in the future on exciting technologies such as biometrics to build an even stronger digital platform for our pensions administration service in the future.”

Chris Jones, Managing Director, Civica Pensions added: “It’s vital to use the best technology to address the challenges of modern pension schemes, with growing customer expectations for self-service portals and improved service levels.

“We’re delighted to be partnering with LPPA as it invests in the next stage of the digital transformation journey. Our wide experience in local government pension schemes, together with our expertise in cloud and evolving technologies will help us innovate together to build better services for both members and employees.”

Civica provides pensions administration software and consultancy services across the private and public sector including approximately 44% of Local Government Pension Schemes membership, plus police and fire services. This latest contract builds on strong momentum and growth in the sector, with further customers including the Pension Protection Fund, Co-operative Group, Church of England Pensions Board and the Northern Ireland Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

Civica is one of the UK’s largest software companies, with over 30 years of proven expertise in delivering improved outcomes for public services around the world.
